It was a cold morning, one of those mornings where it’s technically Fall, but Winter seems to be making a move, reminding you of the months of bitter weather to come. Just a block down from the 72nd Street 2/3 station sits the perfect place to seek refuge and warmth from the cold: Jacques Torres Chocolate.
This little gourmet chocolate chain is the the realization of Frenchman Jacques Torres’ American Dream. He set up shop in Dumbo, Brooklyn in 2000, and now has nine locations sprawled across the city.
The employee behind the counter recommended the Champagne Truffle, which I readily agreed to try. Hot chocolate seemed necessary as well, considering the wintry chill
outside, so I ordered one at the coffee counter across from the chocolate displays.
A package of Jacques Torres Caramels (gluten free!) made a perfect thank you gift for the family I stayed with for Thanksgiving.
While I don’t recommend drinking gourmet hot chocolate for breakfast, this little shop has an endearing ambiance and is great for a cold weather pick me up.
Individual chocolates range from $1.50- $3 (Champagne truffle was $2) and the small hot chocolate costs $3.50. (stick with a small, the hot chocolate is very rich!)
One more thing:
I made a video this time, so you can experience Jacques Torres with me. Check it out!
